Hey folks! Happy Yule, Hanukkah, and Christmas! This is just a quick update on our schedule for the last few weeks of 2019:
This week we’re open as usual, Pizza tonight Tuesday Dec 17th, Pastry Wednesday Dec 18th, and Bread & Pastry Saturday Dec 21th.
The following two weeks will be unusual; in particular we won’t have PIZZA again until JANUARY 7th, due to the fact that both our Eve Holidays fall on Tuesdays this year. So call us: 326-8381 now, and come over tonight for your last pie of 2019!!

Happy winter folks! I hope everyone here in Maine is getting the snow tires on and firewood stacked, because here we gooooo! Over here at the bakery we love the snow and even the ice (it’s something to do with hockey), wood fires and the quiet of this time of year. As well as cozy pizza nights, so get on over here, OK? We’re baking pizza on Tuesdays, and this weather has finally driven us inside (see you in the spring, barn!), so come and enjoy a pint and a pie while snuggled up with Svetlana (that’s our oven) as well as right close to your neighbors. 😉

Hurray for October! We are reveling in the abundance of fruit, wondrous clouds and cool breezes, and are looking forward to the sweetness brought by the first frost. It’s so hard to say goodbye to summer (and what a summer it was!), but with the cold comes so many other opportunities. Thank you for all your support through the seasons–we are so grateful to continue to be able to bake for you and your loved ones.
This week we are taking a tiny break to let our team have a little breather–we will be closed on Saturday October 5th.
We will re-open on October 8th, with our winter schedule. It is the same as last year. Please call or email us if you have questions. Thank you!

The holidays are here, and we will be baking some special breads on SaturdayDecember 22nd, along with all of our regular loaves. We will be delivering our regular bread for sale off the racks on Wednesday Nov 21 to 44 North, Blue Hill Wine Shop, Blue Hill Co-Op, and John Edwards. But please note, all reserved bread must be picked up at the bakery.
We’ll be making brioche again at Christmas.

This is just a little note to catch you all up on our winter plans. This season we have decided to significantly change our schedule: we are decreasing our baking days and outlets in an attempt to make the off-season more sustainable for the business. It is a difficult decision to make for multiple reasons, but especially because it will make the bread and pastries less available for you. We are so grateful for all of your support through the years, and look forward to many more years of serving you!

Bread: We will be doing a full bake of all our regular loaves on Saturdays only. We will deliver bread to locations in Deer Isle, Blue Hill, and Ellsworth (see below for details). Also, don’t miss out on the two winter farmers’ market we attend on Saturdays, in Blue Hill and Belfast. They are both extraordinary.
Are you the type of person who buys bread a few times a week? May we suggest you get double on Saturday, and throw some into the freezer for later in the week. Some folks rave about slicing it up before freezing, so they can easily take out just what they need. And, if your bread is older than a couple days, we always recommend sprinkling a little water on the crust before it hits the toaster. Hard bread = good bread, if you rehydrate!
Pastry: We will be baking pastries on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They will be available at the same locations as the bread.
Pizza: We’re sticking with tried-and-true Tuesday nights. Call us up and order a pie for take out or enjoy it in the family-style close-but-cozy bakery seating. 5-8PM. We’ll have drinks, winter salads, and dessert on the menu all season.
